First song: "''Snake ' Plissken' " by John Carpenter, off the soundtrack to Escape from New York. Coming up first because of the strange quotation marks there.
Last song: "Zoom and Bored (1957)" by Carl Stalling & The Warner Brothers Studio Orchestra, from The Carl Stalling Project.

The longest non-podcast or antique radio drama file is "Raiding the 20th Century - Words & Music Expansion, starring Paul Morley and a cast of thousands", 59:00. Ubuweb has a page about this attempt to document the history of mashups and bastard pop, and you can download the file itself for free.
Songs by artist
First: "Aquarius - Let the Sun Shine In" by The 5th Dimension. I have no idea how this got inside my computer. Maybe it is infected with the fearsome hairy naked hippy Trojan.
Last: "The Way I feel Inside" by The Zombies.
Most: Ella Fitzgerald (74), then a tie between Elvis Presley and Beck (71 each).

First: 10,000hz Legend by Air. Being computer geeks, Air probably knew what they were doing when they chose the name of this album, and of their band for that matter - I listen to them a lot and it's probably because they come up near the top of several iTunes lists.
Last: Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars by David Bowie.

I wonder if we have the same 9 "sex" songs?
Did you skip the ten most played for a particular reason?
yes, a boring reason, but since you asked - I wrote this on the notebook which ahs network access to the entire music library files but not to that kind of info. It only shows ten most played for the files actually living on this hard drive, and they were all songs off Blood on the Tracks.
hey i read this and Im listening to raiding the 20th century.
very specific predictions there Clancy...none of them match what's in my library...couldn't venture a guess what David's were, I think he's always had a soft spot for Tom Jones & Rod Stewart.
I've got "Sex Machine" out of that list. I own some Sex Pistols, but it's not loaded on iTunes. But Clancy left out "Song Against Sex" by Neutral Milk Hotel.
