Dirty Cat

Can you see how dirty it is? This is what comes of rolling in the dirt, like a fool.

I think it might be Bath Night tonight.....

Dirty little pussy! (Sorry.)

My dog rolls in the dirt all the time. When she was a wee slip of a pup we used to lift her up and wash her in the bathtub with lukewarm water and special soap etc but now she weighs 28kg she gets the hose in the backyard. Not such a good option for a cat, of course.

Our dog's 25 kilos and she still gets bathed inside with the warm water. Mind you, it's a lot colder here than Perth.

BAZLOTTO! without even refreshing once, that's a record. And while I'm way off topic: Laura, are you going to give us some more analysis of Tommy? I really enjoyed what you've done so far.

do you mean you are going to bath baz? Or just insist that he does his cat-groom before supper?

I think he needs a bath, with warm water and chamomile shampoo. It will have to wait until at least Saturday afternoon, though, so it really depends on if he can clean himself adequately in the interim.

I keep meaning to do another Tommy, Boris, and all that's lacking is a quiet couple of hours. Thanks for the reminder. I did wonder whether it was just too boring, even though entertainingness isn't the top priority of it really.

Ooooh. Ooh. Um. I don't recommend bathing the cat. Take it from someone whose cat likes to drink from the bath, who thought it would be funny to turn the tap on said cat. Not funny. Well, not for me anyway.

May I recommend a good brush? If it's dust, it will all brush out. Promise.

PS. More Tommy!

I used to use washing up gloves over welding gloves to wash the kittys. Luckily now, there's better flea treatment avaliable.

Here's another vote for another Tommy (it's one of my favourite movies too!).

As for Baz? If he's anything like my cats he certainly won't thank you for intervening :-)

So could Baz be the culprit?? My lovely usually snow white Kimba has been coming home in the same condition lately. If we were on the same side of town, I'd be mightily suspicious of the two of them getting down and diry together (so to speak)
Kimba knows what to expect if he comes home filthy - He has exactly 24 hrs to clean up his act of it's the laundry trough, baby shampoo and thick rubber gloves (optional but highly recommended);)

Perhaps evil Bobster that lives across the road from us has been leading both Baz and Kimba astray. I wouldn't put it past him.

CAT DIRT UPDATE

After a big sleep on top of my beautiful Neko kitty laptop satchel, and a bit of cursory but noisy grooming around 3.30am, the cat is now slightly less of a dirtbag. So maybe no bath for Baz...this time.

We washed him once before when we found him curled up on the bed, in shock, with a shallow dog bite on the back leg and a dried mess of runny poo all over his hindquarters.

My experience has been that soon after it's "bath night" for the cat, it's "Trip to the Emergency Room" night for the owner.

I used to bathe my last cat regularly because I hated using evil flea stuff. She was really good, only getting cranky when it was time to dry her off. Nice mildly warm water and warming up the shampoo first so they don't get a shock to the skin always helps.

I found she was usually very happy to be clean afterwards! And you can usually get a good photo out of them while they're looking scrawny and damp :)

Mind you, haven't tried the technique on the Mr Pees yet...

I had to wash both the tortoiseshells after I'd driven the 30+ km home from the RSPCA with them in the cat basket (they were only baby kitties at the time so they both fitted), distressed and carsick after having only just been fed ...

I did the cloth-and-bowl-of-warm-water thing rather than baptising them by immersion. Worked fine.

Laura, FWIW you can buy this things called 'Kitty Wipes' at pet stores which are like wet ones for cats. (They also come in a puppy version.) The plus side is that they are quick, easy to use and leave the fur looking shiny. The downside is that they have a kind of weird odour, somewhat like 'new car smell'.

I want a Bobster update! Does the miaowmance endure?

BOBSTER UPDATE

Bobster still hangs around but you know how it is: familiarity breeds contempt. I wish there was a nice well-brought-up cat around here like Meep for Baz to be weirdo catfriends with.
