the cat next door

There is a new cat in the hood. Its name is Bobster - or possibly Bobsta? Bobstah? Bobstar? Bobstr? Anyway, Baz is fascinated with it.

(looks longingly) where is Bobsta?

and again.

My opinion is that while it is nice for Baz to have a friend and all that, Bobsta is a rather evil cat and a bad influence. I have seen the two of them lying in the road together. It's a cul-de-sac, but still. I have seen the pair of them sitting under a bush together just staring at one another. Not healthy. Not nice. I should be good enough company for Basil. Bobsta is the type of cat who sets off car alarms.
Recently I've been getting my camera out as I come home trying to catch the pair of them in flagrante delicto. This from the weekend is the best I can do, I fear. They were crouched together on Bobsta's lawn and when he saw me Baz jumped up and ran towards me, like pretending they weren't up to something. Bobsta meanwhile got up on his verandah and stared at me impudently. Bad!

He's bloody out with him right now.

Is Bobstr a Muslim?

Funniest blog post I've read in a long time. Pictures really do make it better, don't they. Your cat is adorable.

thanks for the endorphins. I am laughing like a madwoman. Firstly you sound like Edwina's mother after Edwina and Prudence started playing with Dhakohda from the house with the weeds; secondly, because I have my own Cat Circus at the moment with my own Kitty who refuses to be nice to Rupert and Lorenzo visiting us from Melbourne while their Person is overseas. I am covered in 3 differing colours of cathair.

Ever thought of joining the paparazzi with these photojournalist skills?

I was thinking Bobstr like Flickr etc. But he might well be some kind of furriner, I hadn't considered that. Are you suggesting I sic the AFP or the Dept Immigration onto him? Could work, could work... as for joining the papaparazzi it would need to be the kitty paparazzi. Is there one of those. Sounds like Brownie might know? Anyone around her place taking blurry pictures of the "intruders" to sell to the tabloids?

What a dirty stopout!

Bobsta? Bobstah? Bobstar? Bobstr?

Hmm, how about Boba Fett? All cats are mercenaries, you know.

Harry's not over losing his little friend Willow. Ever since her human family moved away he's been mooching around akin to a "living nextdoor to Alice" scenario.

Princess Cleo shows no such interest. She views such trivial affairs in withering contempt.

I think you should try to befriend Bobsta. This will send Baz into a frenzy of jealousy and he will start paying attention to you again.

I think you are very wise, Mel.

my oscar has a furry doppelganger who he often hangs with ala baz and bob. but their love seems to be quite volatile, frequently descending into yowling competitions in the neighbour's yard. suki watches them timidly from our balcony.

you are indeed a pioneer of kittyrazzi. Since I have a month to fill while the beau is "tramping" in "New Zealand" I might have to employ some of your wily skillz.

I love that you say Bobstah is staring at your impudently. That is SUCH a cat thing to do. Love the pictures.
