Let the little blog live

That month off there was unplanned and to some degree involuntary. Happy 2009! etc. I've got no intention of letting my blog die just yet. It may take me a little while to remember how to write things for it, though.

Probably the most important thing that happened while I was away that needs to be recorded for posterity is that one of the chickens laid an egg that was bigger than Basil's whole head. It's the one on the right in this picture.

Another important thing that happened is that Dorian and I decided to get married. Actually technically this happened before I went blogAWOL - up in Queensland in November, he popped the question and of course I accepted. It was really rather romantic. Here's my ring:

We're going to marry in April, in our own backyard. It's not huge so we can't fit in a really large number of people (although just this afternoon our neighbour suggested taking down the fence between our properties for the day, lol) but I'm definitely inviting Brendan Nelson.

1) Excellent that you're back. 2) Fab egg. And 3) congrats again on the nuptials thing. Somehow I get the feeling that Dorian does not need to learn to be laughed at and you are therefore out in front of Lizzie Bennet.

Aren't chickens amazing!

I recognise that ring - it's the KEY to everything.

Congratulations to both of you,I visualise chooks and cats with ribbons around their necks on the big day.

peace and love

The egg! The egg is astonishing, and I'm suffering sympathetic winces on behalf of yon chook. (Thank you for writing on your blog. It's a gift to the universe.)

Congratulations. And I think Brendan is free all April at this point.

Oh Congratulations!!!

Plus, what Alexis said about the poor chook. Ouchie.

Very wise to think of inviting Brendan, I thought.

Wow, wow & wow.

Will there be liveblogging at the wedding, I wonder? Do you want to import some from Alice Springs to cover the event? (only kidding!)

Thanks everybody. Pav, that's lovely. Ann, spot on about the 'ring' (it's a keyring and not my actual ring which is somewhat less blingy.)

That egg eventuated the day after the chooks were allowed into a played-out vegie patch to clean it up. Too much silverbeet and you get eggmonsters.

Congratulations to you and Dorian. Looks like Caloundra worked its magic.

How many yolks did that egg have? One enormous one, or four?

lucy tartan said...

Thank you. Caloundra was lovely, but it was Maleny in fact - the lookout from the Mary Cairncross park, across to the coast.

There was just the one vast yolk. these chooks have never laid a double-yolker.

Five rousing huzzahs!
1) You're posting!
2) For the humungous egg!
3, 4, 5) For the upcoming nuptials! Congratulations!

I can't imagine what it must have been like for the industrious chicken to force that egg out through its nethers, but it's certainly impressive. Hope you made a monster omelette out of it.

Now THAT'S an egg. I never knew silverbeet could do so much. And congratulations on your engagement!

I'm very pleased. Yay. Is Baz best cat?

Janet said...

Big congratulations! And what a stonker of a ring - eventhough I know it's not the real one, it knocked my socks off.

Ow for the poor chook, congrats on the conubials (will the chook be matron of honour?) and hooray on the blogging.

We've missed you.

Whoa what an egg! And congratulations!!!!! :)

Eggstraordinary, you could say.

I hope that chook is having a good lie down. Congrats on your engagement, looking forward to seeing Baz in his tux.

Eggstraordinary

How did it take us 20 comments to get there?

Thanks again folks for your congratulations, it's very nice.

Basil is always Best Cat. I'm giving serious thought to wedding day costumes for all the animals. You wouldn't believe the number of people who've suggested the chooks be bridesmaids, or perhaps you would.

Can I be Best Bogan?

ha ha. Well you know I'd give an honest performance.

Yours is one of the first blogs I found. There's only two others as good: Miss Brownie, Miss Copperwitch. There, you see, I'm not lying. That's why I wish you great happiness. You: so generous, funny. So interesting.

Howling restraint. I see it was TimT who, um, cracked.

I eggspected as much.
Congratulations to you both. You sure that chicken isn't a bird of augury (there's a SNL reference in there struggling to get out, think I already quoted it once on this blog but I'm having a senior moment.)

Cool - congratulations!

BTW, I like that term blogAWOL, as well as knowing all about it.

Wow - I have a holiday to Port Fairy for just one week and miss two exciting things. Congrats on both!

well, I've heard of a diamond being described as being as big as an egg; never an egg as big as a diamond, but you're getting close...

Congratulations! weddings are great fun. All the best for yours.

Ay, I believe you were there to congratulate me on my own engagement several blog years ago. Nice to have the chance to reciprocate, gramatalations!

PS whopping rock!

Ooh my I winced when I saw that egg.

I kind of winced at the size of the ring too. Congratulations on the real one.

Goodness me, I'm late for your wedding. Hip Hooray, many congrats, etc.

Despite the bored tone that last little bit seems to convey when not graced with an exclamation mark, I am actually very excited. Little lace bonnets for the chooks (and an inflatable pillow for the egg-bearer) and bowties for the cats...
