I can't stop listening to this song. I have to listen to it at least twice a day, more if possible. Don't look for an explanation because there isn't one. There cannot be one.
All the videos on Youtube are just like this one: compter-generated psychedelia + photographs of horses. The horse was the animal of the decade in the 1970s just as lolcats are the epitomic creatures of this era.

This song reminds me of a portion of the front garden of the house I grew up in.
The picture remind me of horses.
Not as enchanting a tune but 'I am Pegasus' comes to mind as another slice of 70s equine folk-pop. http://www.lair2000.net/Pegasus_Lyrics/Pegasus_Lyrics.html
It's like a sort of cross between Wuthering Heights and Henry Lawson's 'The Ballad of the Drover'. Thanks for posting this -- I remember some of 1975, but not that lovely Jimmy Webbish piano.
The youtube for 'I am Pegasus' is pretty hilarious. It doesn't have physical horses, but somewhat by way of compensation, it has Ross Ryan's marvellous hair displayed from many angles. He really gets into the role and tosses his head about in an equine fashion - you'll see what I mean.
