A new disease?

I appear to have grown some new bones in my elbows. That's how it feels anyway. I rest them on the desk and it feels like instead of there being a flat spot there is actually a big wobbly knucklebone in there. I was filling in a form just now and leaning my head on the other hand and because of the wobbling I became distracted and spelled "examination" wrong. Now i'll have to go and get another form. But from where? This was the last one in the pigeonhole. I hope the new bones do not grow any larger, I won't be able to put my coat on. Or take it off.
It's disturbing.

I'm writing this down just in case I don't make it.

Were you boning up for the examination on the form?

I misspelled my name on a form an hour and a half ago, with a witness, who took the form from me and filed it so it will be a regular reminder. I am not growing any new bones and have absolutely no excuse.

Sounds like you have a hypertrophied funnybone to me.

Ouch.

I have this affliction in my ankles. In fact, I have six ankles, if you count the two inside ones too. It's spooky. I apologise sincerely if I passed it on to you via the air conditioning or something.

Ooh, I've worked it out. It's the "academic weight" that the Spectrum reviewer of Meanjin mentioned. You'll have to get elbow patches for all your jackets now - and I thought they were just for looks.
