2020 - dreaming of a better Australia

Here is my suggestion for the 2020 summit. Make it so the people who sort out the donations in the back rooms of op-shops have to put ALL the good stuff out and NOT send it to the sister op-shop in the trendy suburb, sell it to antique dealers, or put it on ebay. And don't let them put a $20 price tag on some chipped old plate either, that's just wrong.

too right. I once saw a white plastic outdoor setting - a table and six chairs which had been used, outside and all - for $150 at the Salvos.

effin' DREAMING

Hear Hear!

... and don't get me started on the bloody Salvos - they are The Worst.

NINE dollars on a skanky looking 1985 paperback and when I queried it the 'Assistant' screamed at me "but look who it's about!"

My God, Zoe, they cost less than that new at KMart.

I love the Salvo shop in Glebe that has a large sign - LEAVE ALL BAGS AT THE FRONT COUNTER & then below SHOPLIFTERS WILL BE PROSECUTED.

Now that's dreaming.....

For you, Bernice, my favourite Salvos sign.

And Pav, I KNOW! Disgraceful.

Amen to that Ms Tartan! I'm also getting sick of dodging crazed hunters looking for vintage wares to sell on ebay. One woman nearly knocked me over the other week in an attempt to get to the glassware before me.

I also collect Meakin china, and if they keep putting $9.99 price tags on chipped and crazed bowls, there'll be a Hoddle Street style incident in the Frankston Savers one day. (But all the oppies are guilty of it.) At my last visit they still had the $599.99 old framed photo of some regal-looking event propped up on top of their "antiques" cabinet. Grr.

That's exactly the kind of thing I'm talking about here Drewz.
