"Are the suburbs uncool or simply untenable?"

Inquiring minds want to know.

Elsewhere, minds that are so thoroughly steeped in the zen of uninquiringness that they may not even exist,
technically, have already discovered the answer.

Inquiring minds want to know, and chattering prats want to tell them.

Yes.

Well, I just discovered that a favorite poet lives in your suburb, so it can't be that uncool. Mind you, she writes about coping with domestic disorder, so maybe it is untenable.

Any suburban backyard that has room for a chook and a cat under a brolly is tenable.

I want to read that poet Duck.

I miss the days when broadsheet newspapers didn't try to have opinions on whether things were cool or not. (Yes, I am old.)

Yes, who is the poet??

That is a fantastic photo. I think you should get it made into a postcard. Or a visiting card.

It could almost be a still life painting. "Umbrella with cat and chook". Is it Terri or Bindi?

Because they insist on dressing the same at all times I can only tell which one's which when they're next to each other. Terri's the big one.

Pudd's real parent reminded me recently that when he was a baby cat he spent a lot of time sleeping in one of those padded igloo things which was made in the image of a chicken. Explains rather a lot.

That's just fantastic. You need to frame it and put it up somewhere.

Wonderful shot. Cat looks so ennuied (which if it isn't a word should be).

I love the piccy too! Make it into Moo postcards, and divide them up into packs of 5 for adoring fans and chicken lovers to puuuurchase...please!

As a 'burbs dweller - buying a daggy brick veneer in a daggy suburb as our first home - I think I'm with the chicken on this one...

said Poet is Jordie Albiston, and I highly recommend her book "The Fall".
