desperation

Any La trobe students read this blog? I need some helpers for the Austen conference on Thursday and friday morning, on campus, at the UNion Building, helping visitors find their way to the registration desk. It's from 7:45am to 9:45am. For each morning they work helpers will be paid with a $40 voucher to the campus bookshop, plus you can come to the social events on Thursday afternoon & evening (see this page). I need three people on Thurs and two on Wed. Please, please help if you can: email me at sillsbend@gmail.com ASAP with your phone number and I'll call you back.

Dunno if it will help but there's a La Trobe network on Facebook

Almost-free books?! My, I would help if I could.

oh i wish i could help. procrastination and a reason to get out of bed early and free books... and it sounds more fun than a similar job i did for the leeds international medieval congress - standing waving a poster in the leeds train station for four hours, smiling occasionally at the troop of machine-gun-bearing policemen who marched in circles around the station looking just as bored as me (it was just after the london bombing).

I reckon young Martin Kingsley would be up for it. His email is on his profile. He's also on Facebook, though I haven't added him to my list of friends yet. I'll give him an ahoy now, let him know his services are required.

Just wanted to say GOOD LUCK for tonight. Two colleagues are off to hear Greer on Austen tonight and aren't I jealous and cross with myself for not booking early?

Hope you found people to help you Laura, and that it's all going brilliantly. I heard that Professor Greer's talk was fantastic!
