Bad

God almighty, after I clicked 'publish' on the last post I clicked through to my own blog to admiringly reread what I just wrote a minute or two before, as one does, and glancing at the Bazlotto column (as one also does: you have to be in it to win it) I saw this picture of myself when young.

What was I thinking, to spray my pegs vermilion and then waft about the town exposing them? It's a good thing I haven't showed my face in Warrnambool since 1996.

Face? Everyone would have been too mesmerised by the the tangerine legs! You'd be quite anonymous now.

I went to Warrnambool for my honeymoon and got divorced soon after.* But it was worth the trip, the breakers there are inspiring (and terrifying).

*I don't blame the town.

You just anticipated the spray-tan orange trend. You are a trend-setter, a leader. I expect to see a trend towards 70's style remodelling of homes happening soon on all the best home decorating shows.

Regardless of spray tan, the younger self clearly has it all going on in the shoe department. Those buckle-ups are a darn sight nattier than the regulation black lace-up Clarks I wore for 13 years.

Mindy says it all really... except that at least they were (are?) nice legs.

I used to be called 'Jarra' by my family because of my solid legs. I haven't worn a skirt above my knees without trousers underneath since about 1985.

At least you were fashion conscious, I'm sure my legs were lily white and hairy at that age!

By the way, I'm sure I read that they're going to get rid of the Fletcher Jones gardens in the paper recently? Say it isn't so!

Lily white and hairy is how I remember them. Don't think I could've kept up these standards very long somehow.

I hope it is a rumour only about the gardens, but it wouldn't be completely unexpected. A real shame though.
