our feathered friend

Bloggy birds of a feather flock together, and Ampersand Duck is making a flying visit to Melbourne next week.

HOORAY!

Not wholly coincidentally, there is a grog/blog/meet scheduled for the evening of Friday 16th March. Bloggers and their resolutely unblogging entourages are cordially invited.

The place is the Exford Hotel which is on the corner of Little Bourke and Russell sts in the city. The meeting place is UPSTAIRS. The importance of this last point cannot be stressed too highly.

update: start time about six thirty to seven. I am going there straight from Mildura so when I can get there depends on how fast the plane goes. I probably won't get there before seven, but that shouldn't matter to you.

At last! A manual for my symptoms!

Oh God, the Exford. I was abandoned there once, by my best friend from high school. She went home with a sleazy bloke & left me all alone. It was 25 years ago & I guess the fact that I'm writing this proves that I'm still not over it.

Oh Meredith, I feel for you. I was taken to a teenage party by a boy once and left there by him. I've never seen him again to this day, 25 years on. I still get a lump in my throat if I go through/near that bit of Sydney. (Nothing dramatic happened to him; others saw him, he just chickened out.)

Hooray! Melbourne! I must post about this myself.

Lucy, that blogger-depression link is of such excellence I am awarding you a gold star* AND a pink elephant.

Onwards and upwards.

Never knew there was a refined upstairs bar.

Last I was at Exford it was loud cover band, loud backpackers, I see their web site says 80 beds, and H deals up towards macdonalds on Russell resulting in assorted people on the nod in shop doorways.

As you know FX we have the existence of the refained upstairs bar on impeccable authority. And the neighborhood ambience is only fitting for a blogger get-together.

And the Blog Depression pamphlet is super excellent so it shouldn't surprise anyone to hear that I think I got it via Boynton, somewhere in the mists of time.

Upstairs, you say? It would be my pleasure to interlope, interloper that I am.

Ms Tartan,

That was a top night. We must do it again, I wish I had stayed for noodles after all. Terrific venue, could become a permanent grogblog fixture if it's always that quiet.

Excellent evening, but I don't think the upstairs Exford could be a permanent grogblogging venue - it's completely wheelchair inaccessible, and this rules out at least three Melbourne bloggers.

Well, I guess that's not quite such a good idea then :) but it was a good spot, all the same.
