Too much oil on troubled waters under the bridge

No way known can I catch up on all the things that have happened since (oh dear) August 22nd: I've been very very busy with school stuff, I've got a loathsome head cold, and I've been to Sydney for a few days...that'll probably have to do. Dorian bought a new macbook today, and he's also got a new job. I'm a bit jealous so I decided to redecorate my blog, do you like it? Too bad if you don't. My last trip to Mildura (last Tuesday) was quite entertaining in an exhausting sort of way - in the morning the airport was brim full of Exclusive Brethren, an interesting sight if you're fascinated by 'look at me' modesty (and who isn't?), and then on the way home I sat next to a young country man who was flying for the first time ever and headed for London. We had an interesting talk about The Lord of the Rings, although he didn't believe I'd actually read it, if asking me twice whether I reallyhad was any indication. I wonder how he's getting on in Earls Court or wherever he ended up.

Perhaps you'd like to see the frontispiece to the first illustrated English edition of Pride and Prejudice?

Thought so.

Weird huh. That's Elizabeth telling Mr Bennet about Darcy organising Wickham and Lydia's wedding.

Your new blog colours and vivid but distinctive, and I will have to steal some of the code for your well nifty new sidebar.

Wow! Colour! very schmicko.

And hair! why don't we have hairstyles like that anymore? She looks like she has a parrot perched on her head saying 'O La!' every few seconds while she tries to talk. Darcy would like to strangle that damned parrot.

Sorry, Mr Bennet. getting carried away in my flight of fancy there.

It looks great! But have you considered adding catsinsinks.com to your list of cat links?

I luuuv the colours and layout, darlink. If you weren't a net-friend I'd have to pinch the CSS!

Duckie it does look like Elizabeth has some sort of water fowl glued to the back of her head, doesn't it? And everyone's first thought, including mine, on seeing the pic, is that the man is Darcy, not Mr B. For some reason it's a bit weird that he's going bald. In the MP picture in this same set, Sir Thomas is also balding, so maybe it's how they drew older men to show their oldness.

I thought I had cats in sinks! Will add it asap.

I love it! So very stylish, and excellent colours. Sunsetty. Comments still take four hours to load (and haven't got a scrollbar yet).

I am also a bit upset that as soon as I start making a killing on Bazlotto you drop it to four boxes. Meh.

Yeah, whatever, Elizabeth has a guinea fowl on her head. Old news.
Because CHECK OUT Mr. Bennet's MYSTERIOUS third hand!!!!
... Oh god, I hope it's a hand.

ew, Jacqueline. Thank you very much.

What's this about comments taking forever to load / no scrollbar? It loads ok here, but we have broadband. Short of actually paying for haloscan or whatever is there anything I can do to make it work better?

I will change bazlotto back to five. Even numbers aren't lucky, anyway.

And look. I don't do maths, but aren't the odds better on four boxes than on five? Wasn't I making it easier for you?

Everyone is renovating (and nice job BTW) and I am starting to feel quite jealous.

I was quite concerned initially when I misread your description and thought that the picture was of Darcy. I couldn't cope with him being bald. Mr Bennet I am not so fussed about.

I read Mansfield Park and thoroughly enjoyed it, but it can't hold a torch to my love of P&P.

scrollbar's here. 'Tis the curse of teh dialup, which hopefully we'll soon be rid of.

Don't know why buy yours and Duckie's are Teh Slowest. I'll get the broadband sorted tomorrow.

Comments are slower since you added the beta bit.

Oh, and I don't think you have catsthatlooklikeHitler on your cat links. That one's worth a laugh.

I like the new decor, although am a bit teary that you took me off your blogroll. Was it something I said?

It was a mistake, and I am very sorry, and have fixed it.

Did you ever see Elvis as Henry Tilney, from the same editions I would imagine?

(You might have to cut and paste the URL--I had to put in .htaccess limits to keep schoolchildren from hotlinking to screencaps from various Austen adaptations--so here it is in text: http://www.tilneysandtrapdoors.com/images/elvishenry.jpg)
