Zoe!
Thank you!!!!!!!
As a recovering ebay addict I've ripped open some mighty fine parcels in my day...but none to compare with what I found in the mailbox this evening. Oh, oh, oh, oh my. I didn't see it until 7 o'clock, and the postie comes around at about 11am, so the precious was poking out of the letterbox for eight whole hours in full vulnerable view of whoever happened to wander by...god I hate to think what might have happened to it.
This is what was inside the envelope:
YES! YES! yesyesyesyesyes. YES. "Cat Tales: A Family Album" *hyperventilates* featuring photographs by the legendary, world famous Harry Whittier Frees, unsung genius and grandfather of early bizarro costumed kitty photography.
Just look.
It's a kitten tug-of-war, yes, it really is. *dances*
I am a fluffball and I vote.
Hey, I recognise these two from somewhere...
hang on... can't place them..... oh. No. I was thinking of something else. Something entirely different.
Basil says thanks too.

My mother-in-would love that book - just ask Ampersand Duck (we share a mother-in-law).
In fact Duckie's beloved would love that too.
Better not let them visit ...
I am so pleased you like it!
I thought it was a pretty safe bet you would.
ahhhhhhhh!
I remember some of those from... I don't know where... but they are firmly wedged in my subconcious from somewhere, sometime. weird, somehow kinda spooky and irresistable.
Ahhh, Naomi, we *have* seen the book at Zoe's house, pulled out for a few sessions with red wine, and yes, BB loves it too. We have ooh'd and ahh'd till our faces nearly fell off. I'm really glad it's found a worshipful home!
My favorite is the one with the dog, which definitely looks to be at the bottom of the hierarchy in that trio. Even the pumpkin looks more of a winner. I think I can feel safe saying such things here in what is somewhat of a cat haven...
The puppy/kitty/pumpkin trio is a detail, I should have reproduced the whole picture - it's got another kitten & another gorgeous sooky-looking puppy on the other end.
It's kind of sad to think these pictures were taken almost a hundred years ago now and the animals are all long, long, long gone.
I really am honoured to receive such a gift. It's not something I'd ever be able to give away myself.
I always felt it belonged with you, and for want of not being a creepy stalker would have sent it a long time ago.
I'm chuffed that it's home now.
I used to be addicted to ebay until I discovered the used book section of
http://www.abebooks.com/
Now I have a parcel arrive just about everyday. I am not game enough to check my credit card balance as bankruptcy may be just around the corner.
