Tommyblogging

Well, I checked my letterbox one last time today just to make sure, but what I have suspected all along appears to be true: nobody is going to ask me to write the BFI Classics monograph on Ken Russell's 1975 movie Tommy. Huh. How about that.
So: bugger them. I have a blog and I'm not afraid to use it. I'll say what I have to say about Tommy and just publish it myself, here, in episodes and instalments: let's call this an experiment in self-education / criticism using the blog medium (and that means inviting and using reader conversation and feedback.) I hope this will be fun. I think it will. We'll see.

Tommy is a movie that is very important to me. I'll have more to say tomorrow. Talk to you then.

Oh, can't wait. Although I haven't seen Tommy in, like, a million years. I don't even know if I've seen it all the way through.

But I know that you will guide me through it and show me the movie I've never seen completely as I'd never seen it even partially before.

I check my letterbox, but there's never a thing from some rich dame wanting to marry me. All I get are demands; dirty swine wanting dough. Well bugger them, they can cut off the gas, cut off the power, cut off the bloody lot! I'll go back to the Stone Age. They were better times anyway, better for romance. No marriage counsellors, no divorce court, no marriage at all. Candlelit dinners, that's all.

RH!

As a Who fan, Laura, it sounds good. Just try to keep those Timezone memories brief. And as for any personal Uncle Ernie moments, well, you probably better blur those.

I've never seen the movie! I need to rent it because my husband is obsessed with Tommy. Obsessed.

this is fortuitous timing. I've been planning it for a while, but have just decided to start a regular blog feature on dance films (or dance in film). So perhaps there'll be a general rise in film blogarship!

I look forward to reading how this project of your unfolds :D
