Basil continues to enjoy his life.

It's been quite cold here (though not as cold as it can get in Melbourne, when we aren't in the drought cycle,) and I got in the habit each morning of making Baz a kind of coil pot out of a rolled-up blanket on top of our bed so that he would have somewhere warm to curl up while we weren't home. So with my first pay I bought the cat a present - a padded dog kennel. He understood it straight away, which makes me think maybe he's not so stupid.

Then again, last night while I was wincingly watching Australian Idol he lay in a trance on my lap and didn't protest while I used him as convenient receptacle for mandarine peel.

Maybe it's because I'm a cat person, but I laughed out loud at Baz and the mandarine peel. Thanks

Baz was just returning the favor, right? You got him a warm, cozy place to stay so he's willing to let you put your peels on him. Good kitty. My Tyler would have scratched me all to hell if I'd tried to put my peels on him, but Tippy would have just sat there blithely.

Yup, he owes me some entertainment. He costs almost $1500 a year to maintain, dammit.

Hi Boris! I remember you from the weekend everyone had to say hello. I'm glad you don't think the mandarine peel is mean.

so call them Agent FE. I will rain down mandarine peel upon Hugh Wirth's very head, yea.

'maintain'? do you not mean 'worship'?

I prefer orange-peel hats, personally.

Soporific, as the Flopsy Bunnies might say.

doing silly things to cats lets them know that we love them.

They let us know that they love us by letting us do silly things to them.

its a trust game, eh
