the blog of the movie of the book, whatever

I may have mentioned already that a hollywood studio is shooting a part of their Orrible movie on the football field at the end of my street this month. Well, they will start filming sometime soon, I guess they must nearly be ready by now.

Since they spent the last week and a half up in cherry-pickers spray-painting the trees yellow and red, that is.

People of Victoria: look out the window. See any elms or oak trees or other non-native species? What colour are the leaves today? Are they mostly green but with little yellow and brown and red patches? Are they getting browner and more autumnal literally by the day? Are there fallen leaves accumulating on your lawns and nature strips? It's all true, isn't it.

These trees have drop sheets round them. See those hessian-bag type things on the ground? Tomorrow these trees will be baby-poo yellow with flaming swathes of Julia-Gillard-red. Can't wait.

*special thanks to Security Guard Kev, who tells me whatever I want to know.*

Oooo. On behalf of all people living in places where the trees actually turn those colors, I apologize.

Well, at least they're not spraying that toxic stuff you photoblogged a little while ago. Are they? [da-da-dum...]

Those are oaks. The leaves will turn by themselves in the next week or ten days, in fact the trees a little higher up in the street are already looking beautiful. i guess these ones weren't coming up to scratch fast enough.
It's comical really. I'd have loved to listen in on the conversations of the guys hired to do the painting. It reminds me of the part in Alice in Wonderland where the gardeners have to paint the white roses red.

I hope it's nothing poisonous; I imagine it isn't. The cat came home a few days ago with his fur all orange down one side, & I wondered if he'd been hanging round down there, disgracing himself.

Yikes, I hope that's not his real name, or Kev is probably about to find himself out of a job.

appreciating the semi-regualr updates... looking forward to more Dakota Fanning news...

Luke is really cranky about this too ;)

Every time we drive past we have to slow down to scowl and shake our heads...

When Ned Kelly was filmed in Clunes, the locals had to tolerate gravel across the entire main street from side to side; when Salem's Lot filmed in Creswick they had plastic snow beads right across their main street. WHO!? would be a Locations Manager who was not a Masocher-ist.

If The Baz Cat has been moonlighting as an 'extra' I hope he comes home with a pay cheque next time.

& we just learned that the council is being paid $200 a day for all this. They are occupying a football field & two adjacent parks, blocking the street, and have set up enormous marquees behing the community hall higher on the hill, which they are also using.
$200 a day wouldn't cover the hire of one portaloo.
