Who or What

When I started selling bags on ebay a couple of years ago I didn't expect to get repeat buyers - I mean, who needs more than one handbag at a time? So it was a nice surprise to find out that isn't how it works with bags and some people keep coming back for more.
A normal pattern is that they will buy one, then come back a week or two later and buy maybe two or three more, then be back again the next month for another couple, then I'll never hear from them again. But there is a little group of hardcore bag girls who have been coming back regularly for ages. what does one woman do with 15+ handbags? I don't know. Maybe some of them sell them on. I'm a bit afraid to ask.

Recently some of these girls have begun sending me gifts. Is that creepy? Yes, sometimes, particularly as I use my real name on ebay and all that jazz - but surprisingly often it's not weird at all, just nice. It is more weird when the person has actually gone out and bought something specially than when they send something they made or that they don't need anymore. Some women have sent me fabric offcuts, which makes sense. It is quite difficult to strike the right note with thank-you messages for a gift from a stranger with whom you have done business. I would prefer always to keep the relationship businesslike but at the same time I don't want to hurt anybody's feelings.
